      The back trailer tire, driver’s side was at the exercise entrance indicating by the dash line. That’s when you turn right. When the passenger side tires start to cross same dash line, turn left. I would pay closer attention to the line marking the entrance and boundary.

      Reverse light is not required . Back of the tractor lights are not required when you’re coupled to a trailer. In the real world senerio if you’re stopped by DOT and given a level 1 inspection and the tractor lights don’t work you’ll be given a repair order and you’re required to send back the document when you get the tractor lights fixed. You can continue to drive. If the lights don’t work on the back of the trailer you’re required to fix them immediately or be placed out of service. You can’t drive the truck with lights not functioning on the trailer.

      @@temitopegbolagade5864 I hope people read this because this is very unfortunate. It's called the "Tractor protection valve" in the CDL handbook. That's the correct name. This CDL test is based on the content of the material in your states CDL Drivers manual and it is a requirement that you name parts and components by the correct name. On the checklist That you're allowed to carry with you on the test it refers to "Parking and Trailer brake test". I would dispute this because he's correct and she's wrong. With that being said, you're not allowed to use slang words to describe a part or component. The valve itself say's "Trailer Air supply" It doesn't say service line. • @mikelogan99CDLClassAskillstest

      When you’re inspecting the trailer only you’re looking at the lights to make sure they’re not broken damaged or missing, firmly attached. What you’re not checking is whether or not they work. That’s why it’s mandatory to do another operational light check. This ensures that all of the lights are working prior to you driving the truck.

      When you’re pulling out of the lane it’s a hard left. Do that at the point where the middle of the trailer passes the cone which marks the beginning of the exit point/painted dashes. Start to turn right as the right side of the trailer approaches the exit line and turn back to the left to get the trailer straight and through that area marked with a small painted line. That’s also a grade point in the exercise. I hope this helps, best of luck!

      You're positioning the front of the trailer as you go back and you want to do that in a short distance that requires turning all the way. I indicate when to turn at the point where the drive axles are inline with the center point of the landing gear frame and the trailer axle is at the entrance line and the same with the drive axle. Those are turning points. Watch the parallel park video in this series and you'll see this demonstrated again. This exercise is a combination of the offset and the parallel park but with more distance than before which makes it easier. Watch where your trailer and tractor axles are. You're in a 12 foot lane with an 8 foot wide truck and you should have about 2 feet on each side from the tire to the boundary line. I hope this helps, good luck! All of the information is in the CDL drivers manual section 12. The new testing procedures are in the sections, followed by the letter M for modernization. You can also ask questions to your instructor or examiner.

      I'm sorry you were yelled at. When that happens the learning part is over and all anyone wants to do is give up. Any Instructor that yells at the student doesn't have the patience to be an instructor. I would go immediately to the school director and lodge a formal complaint. Thanks for the comment and if anyone who reads this has the same situation, you don't have to tolerate this.

    Great video. If you're driving a manual it would've been super helpful to show us when you were making your downshift and what gear you were in all situations, even coming to a stop. Also, I was taught to begin making a right turn far sooner than when equal to the center lane markings, the middle of the road basically. I'm more confused about that now.

    • @mikelogan99CDLClassAskillstest
      @mikelogan99CDLClassAskillstest 3 месяца назад

      The focus of this video is an example of what you will be tested on during the driving portion of the CDL exam. As far as the shifting part I think that would be best illustrated in a separate video. I’ve watched a factory video from Eaton Fuller and they explain how to shift much better than I could ever do. Many tests are in trucks equipped with automatic transmissions. I explained making right turns like this. Position the truck is close to the center lane as possible and then drive out to the second 12 foot lane and in many cases that’s going to be where opposing traffic is. Of course yield to traffic, but stay in that lane until the trailer tires are close to clearing approximately 10 to 15 feet and then return back to your lane. That’s how much space it takes to make the turn. If you’re making the turn without stopping, you need to do that at 10 mph, which in a typical 10 speed would be fourth gear, or a low RPM in fifth gear. Put the brakes on and slow the truck to that speed and then downshift to that gear well in advance. In a wide sweeping right hand turn, you could do that at 15 to 20 mph and that would be fifth gear or six gear. It’s important to learn the speed that is associated with each gear for the truck that you’re driving. That way when you make a decision about which gear to shift into simply look at your speedometer, and that will tell you the speed and then you’ve memorize the gears for each speed range you can make the selection. If you’ve come to a complete stop, simply put the brakes on and right before the truck comes to a complete stop push the clutch in and then select the gear that you’re going to start out in. Sit there with a clutch pushed in and the transmission in gear and then makes the turn when it’s safe to do so.

      I would start by documenting specific situations. Take that information to the school director and then move up the chain of command to the corporate office and to the owner. If you have a complaint it’s likely that others also have complaints.

      @@mikelogan99CDLClassAskillstest All of us (students) feel the same way, it's a regular topic of conversation. when I met the class who went through the program before me they said the same thing, my whole class is saying the same thing, and now the class coming in behind me is saying the same thing. The school claims a 98% success rate (student who end up earning a CDL), however of the 15 class A students who started with me only 2 of us have made it as far as having a test date (doubt either of us will pass). We are now 3.5 months and $9,000 in. There are 6 instructors and besides their mandatory hour or two of rides with students per day they spend all day inside looking at their phones and talking trash to each other. I have received literally ZERO instruction on how to do my maneuvers, I just go on youtube and watch videos and try out what i see. If we ask the instructors a question or for a demonstration or really for anything at all they cuss us out and degrade us. Their disgusting human beings. I could go on and on but this is already getting long. If I complain to the school I dont believe it will go anywhere because the instructors laugh and joke about previous students who filed complaints to the school. They pull out the print outs of complaints (that are supposed to be anonymous but aren't) and read them and laugh about it in front of the new class and call the person who filed the complaint all kinds of nasty things. This is why I would like to file my complaint with someone who can actually do something about it... the state, the feds, whoever provides them their "accredited" status, the BBB, the FMCSA, I dont really know where to start. On one hand I just want to get my CDL and move on, but the thing is how many more students are they going to rob $9,000 from and not actually provide any training or instruction at all in return? How many other people are they going to degrade and yell and cuss at when their just trying to get some training and better their (and their family's) lives. Its not right that they get to keep doing this to people over and over again.

      @@renegaderatsI just now read your comment and my jaw dropped. I’m sorry that I missed it for the past few weeks. I’ve been out of the country in a remote area with spotty internet at best. If the school is accredited by your state then quite often the state provides tuition assistance to qualifying students. I’ve been seeing more of these type of comments and I’m wondering what is going on. I always recommend to document any and all situations. Make notes of anyone who was present or also involved. This is important because as time passes you’ll forget some details. I would try to get some results from the company owners, directors or someone who is in charge at the school. From there go to the state employment agency or the department that assists with tuition assistance, job search and placements. Somewhere along that line you should find additional information about how to handle this. I wish you the best. If you want to reach out to me, my email is mikelogan99@gmail.com Thank you!
